Invitation for the KICS Summer Conference 2025
Dear Members of the KICS and Participants in the Summer Conference,
Greetings! Summer 2025 is almost upon us, and we are delighted to announce that our Institute’s largest event—the 2025 KICS Summer Conference—will be held over four days, from June 18(Wed) to June 21(Sat), at Jeju Shinhwa World. Building on the enthusiasm and engagement you demonstrated at the Winter Conference, we have prepared an even richer and more in-depth program.
Under the slogan “Beyond Connectivity: AI, Quantum, and Robotics,” this year’s conference will explore the future of ICT shaped by the latest advances in a hyper-connected era and beyond.
We are honored to welcome Director Jin-Bae Hong of IITP as our invited keynote speaker. His talk, titled “Preparing for the AX 2.0 Era,” will offer an in-depth analysis of the AI revolution—driven by AI agents and physical AI—and outline the preparatory tasks and strategic R&D directions we must pursue to remain globally competitive.
For our Headong Distinguished Lecture, we will host Professor Mohamed-Slim Alouini of KAUST, a world-renowned scholar, who will present his vision for hyper-connected communications via High Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS) operating in the stratosphere. In addition, leading researchers from around the globe will share their latest findings:
Professor Mérouane Debbah (Khalifa University) and Professor Marco Di Renzo (King’s College London) on future communication technologies.
Mr. Takehiro Nakamura, CSO of NTT DoCoMo, on “5G Evolution and 6G” with the latest standardization trends.
Professor Jia Liu (Harvard University) on the highly anticipated Brain-Chip Interface and its integration with communication technologies.
Special sessions will spotlight convergent research across 6G technologies, AI-RAN, satellite communications, quantum computing and communications, robotics, AI, large-language models, bio-technology, and more. On Thursday, June 19—the second day of the conference—we will hold “Military ICT Day,” a full-day event bringing together researchers and developers from the military, industry, academia, and research institutes to discuss the present and future of Defense ICT.
We have also organized in-depth tutorials on 6G, AI-RAN, and Intelligent Connectivity to help you grasp the principles and applications of these cutting-edge technologies. For undergraduate students, we will host both a paper competition and an idea competition—so we encourage strong participation from your schools.
We hope this Summer Comprehensive Conference will spark new research ideas and collaboration opportunities, offering a vibrant forum for domestic and international scholars to envision the future communications ecosystem together. Please join us actively to share your academic and technical achievements and exchange ideas.
Finally, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Institute’s officers, organizing committee members, and Secretariat staff for their dedicated efforts in making this event a success. Wishing all our members good health and well-being, and we look forward to seeing you in Jeju.
Thank you.
