Invitation for the KICS Winter Conference 2026

Dear Members of the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS),

To celebrate the New Year of Byeong-O in 2026, the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences will hold the Winter Comprehensive Conference at Mona Yongpyong Resort. This conference has been organized with a diverse and in-depth academic program to provide our members with valuable academic information and ample opportunities for broad research exchange.

At this conference, we are pleased to host invited keynote lectures by distinguished international scholars: Prof. Angela Yingjun Zhang from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Zhiguo Ding from Nanyang Technological University, and Prof. Marco Di Renzo from Université Paris-Saclay. Especially, Professor Zhiguo Ding, Editor-in-Chief of IEEE JSAC, will present collaboration opportunities with Korean researchers related to JSAC. In addition, tutorial sessions will be delivered by Dr. Min-Ok Ahn from Rebellion, Prof. Jemin Lee from Yonsei University, Prof. Won-Yong Shin from Yonsei University, and Dr. Sangman Cho from Amazon. Special sessions will include a panel discussion on core technologies for Physical AI, industry keynotes, a startup special session, and sessions on Physical AI, Industry Innovation: Korea and Global.

Furthermore, a wide range of programs from both academia and industry have been planned to offer all participants a rich academic experience. These include Special Sessions I and II for Early-Career Researchers, where emerging research topics will be introduced; an Emerging Scholars Special Session; a Junior Faculty Social Gathering Special Session aimed at supporting the successful careers of early-career researchers; a 6G Forum Special Session; an NI SDR Seminar; Special Sessions hosted by the 3707th Unit of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces, Hanwha Systems, and LIG Nex1.

As in previous years, the Haedong Best Paper Award will be presented at this conference to recognize outstanding research selected from the submitted papers and to encourage academic excellence. In addition, an Idea Competition will be held to promote student participation. This year’s competition focuses on generating creative ideas that combine Agentic AI with next-generation communications, providing undergraduate students with an opportunity to contribute to engineering problem solving through innovative thinking. These programs are expected to offer meaningful and valuable experiences, particularly for students beginning their research in communications.

We hope that the 2026 Winter Comprehensive Conference will serve as a vibrant forum where numerous domestic and international ICT experts gather to discuss, debate, and collaborate on a wide range of topics. We kindly encourage all members of KICS to participate actively in this conference.

Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Organizing Committee and the KICS Secretariat for their dedication and hard work in preparing this event. We hope that this conference will be a fruitful and rewarding experience for all members and that it will foster active exchange and communication among participants.
Sincerely,

February, 2026
