Dear KICS Members,
We warmly invite you to the Fall Conference 2024 hosted by Korean Institute of Communication Sciences held in Gyeongju, the ancient capital of Silla, with our deepest gratitude to our members for their dedicated efforts in research and development despite very challenging social and economic conditions.
The KICS Fall Conference this year will be the largest ever with around 700 papers in information and communication and related convergence fields being presented. This year's program consists of a diverse and interesting program with special lectures by many foreign experts and keynote lectures by industry companies.
Bang Seung-Chan, the president of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, will give an invited lecture on the topic “6G low-orbit satellite communication research and development direction,” and another invited lecture “Newly structured Hollow-Core fiber and its open science research field for power/radio over fiber and ultra-low latency beyond 5G application” will be presented by Prof. Naoaki Yamanaka, the president of IEICE on November 20th.
A keynote lecture entitled “The role of wireless wystems in the interplay of physical and digital time” will be given by Prof. Petar Popovski of Aalborg University in Denmark and Dr. Xingqin Li of NVidia, USA. will deliver a special lecture about “What is next in 5G-advanced toward 6G?.”
In addition, industrial keynote lectures include “New connections between people, space, and information – robots, autonomous driving, and digital twins” by Baek Jong-yoon, vice president of Naver Labs, and “AI processor revolution created by software developers” by Hong-Seok Kim, the chief software architect of Rebellion are also available. In particular, at this year's fall conference, for the first time, we will be holding an academic paper contest using energy self-sufficiency data from the Gumi Industrial Complex, jointly hosted by the KICS and Korea Electric Power Corporation, with the theme of technology development research and policy proposals using energy data.
In addition, a variety of programs are prepared, including 6G forum special sessions, AI top conference special sessions, O-RAN special sessions, special sessions hosted by branches/society/research groups, special sessions hosted by forums and research centers, and undergraduate thesis competitions. So, we would like to encourage all members to participate in this year's conference.
We would like to thank the conference committee members and the secretariat for the Fall Conference of the KICS for their hard work in preparing for this event. We hope that this conference will be a useful conference where members can communicate with each other and have a good time.
Warm regards,
November 2024
